Swayambhu

This is one of the world’s oldest stupas. The stupa is also known as “monkey Temple”. It is said to be more than 2000 years old. The painted eyes on the four sides of the spire’s base are of lord Buddha. It is 4km west of Kathmandu city and situated on a hilltop about 77m above the level of Kathmandu valley. One can have a spectacular view of the Kathmandu Valley. It was listed in the UNESCO world heritage monument list in 1979
