Bardia

The Royal Bardia National Park is located in Southwestern terai, west of The Karnali River. The Royal Bardia National Park is spread over 968 sq km. The park is the largest and most undisturbed wilderness area in the Terai. About 70% of the Park is covered with dominantly Sal Forest with a balanced mixture of grassland, savanna and riverine forest. It is here that your chances of spotting a tiger in Nepal are the highest. The animals to see here are mostly deer, tiger, rhino, leopard and wild elephant. Gangetic Dolphins, crocodiles, a variety of snakes and over 360 species of birds and more than 30 mammals are found here. The activities include jungle safari on elephant back, walks, boat rides and jeep drives. To get there from Kathmandu, fly to Nepalgunj (1hr 10 minutes) and then drive 95 km (3 hrs). The best time to visit is from October- March.
